After School & Field Trips
Decompress & build life-skills while having fun!
Hearts connect, minds clear, and hands stay busy with games, art, movement, building, nature exploration, group sharing and quiet reflection. We invite kids to be kind to themselves and others while practicing focused attention, collaboration, problem-solving, empathy, gratitude, emotional resiliency, self-advocacy and growth-mindset.

Focused Fun @ Kellogg Afterschool Enrichment
Collabreate (collaborate to create) art, structures, movement and games. One's ability to focus and attend to both learning and social activities can always be deepened. Focused Fun expands children's ability to focus, problem solve and advocate for themselves, through games, art and stem activities, quiet reflection and group sharing.
Mindfulness lessons include concepts such as empathy, compassion, gratitude and kindness for ourselves and others. Sessions begin with group sharing, to allow children time to process their school day. They also share if they were able to apply a mindful skill to home or class. Sessions end with quiet focusing to practice self-calming.

As part of the “Artful Thinking: Museum Tour, students in grades 4-12 experience a grounding mindfulness practice before gallery tours.
Students are guided to look closely at an artwork, to practice shifting their focus of attention as well as connecting with the art through self-reflection in a non-judgmental way. A mindful coach supports them toward curiosity, openness and self-compassion. This mindfulness session ends with a moment of quiet self-regulation that prepares the mind for the critical thinking and dynamic discussions to come in the galleries.
